Kuwait Oil awards pipeline contract to Petrofac

LONDON, Nov. 17 -- Kuwait Oil Co. has let a $543 million lump-sum contract to Petrofac to carry out engineering, procurement, and construction services for a natural gas pipeline to extend from KOC's Booster Station 131 in northern Kuwait to its LPG plant at the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery.

The 141-km pipeline, which will take 21 months to complete, will deliver gas from Kuwait's northern fields for processing at the refinery. The processed gas will be used in Kuwait's electric power generation plants.
